Reading the menu bar
- HV OK means every enabled VPN policy is satisfied.
- HV ! means at least one enabled policy proves an unsafe network state.
- HV ? means Hopvane cannot prove the expected network state.
- NET ! or no net means the configured reachability target failed.
First checks
- Confirm the VPN is connected and run Check Now from the menu.
- Review the expected IPv4, IPv6, DNS, and route-interface values in Settings.
- Capture trusted values again only after intentionally changing VPN or network configuration.
- Confirm the configured probe and reachability hosts are available on the current network.
Kill switch and helper
Route blocking is available only in the Developer ID edition, requires the optional helper, and is disabled by default. The helper is installed and removed explicitly from Settings with administrator approval.
If Settings reports the helper as unavailable after installation, use Refresh. If removal leaves stale helper files or routes, use the uninstall command included with the packaged app.
