Information the app uses

Hopvane requires no account. Monitoring settings, expected network values, named profiles, and notification preferences are stored locally on your Mac.

The recent-events timeline is kept in memory. Status-change alerts use local macOS notifications.

How information is used and shared

Network checks

Public IPv4 and IPv6 checks contact the probe hosts configured in Hopvane. These requests necessarily reveal your apparent source IP address to the selected probe provider.

Optional reachability checks open a TCP connection to the host and port you configure. DNS-resolver and default-route checks read macOS system configuration locally.

Optional network helper

The Developer ID edition can use an optional privileged helper for its disabled-by-default network kill switch. Installing or removing the helper is an explicit action that asks for administrator approval.

The helper accepts only narrowly defined status and route-blocking operations. It does not receive arbitrary shell commands, probe results, or monitoring history.

Your choices and controls

You can change the probe hosts and reachability target in Settings, including using endpoints you trust or operate yourself. The optional network helper is installed and removed from Settings with administrator approval.

Support messages

If you email support, Paulo Antunes receives your email address and the information or attachments you choose to send. This information is used to answer your request and investigate the issue, and is handled by the email service used for the conversation.

Support correspondence is kept as needed to handle your request and related follow-up. You can ask to access, correct, or delete information you have sent by using the contact link below.

This website

This website does not use analytics or advertising scripts. The hosting server may record ordinary access and error logs, including your IP address, requested URL, time, and browser information, to serve and maintain the site.

The theme switch stores your light or dark preference in your browser using a cookie and local storage. Fonts are served by this website. Links to external websites are covered by those sites' own privacy policies.
